The Legend of Korra series introduces viewers to a vibrant and turbulent world that is a compelling sequel to the original Avatar series. Created between 2012 and 2014, the four seasons reflect the elements of air, water, earth and fire, exploring complex themes such as politics, spirituality, identity and sanity through captivating animation and layered storytelling.
Season 1: Air will introduce us to Korra, a feisty and determined young woman from the Water Tribe who is another avatar following Aang. His journey begins as he battles the sinister Equalist faction, led by the masked Amon, who seek to rid the world of bending.
Season 2: Spirits takes us into the spiritual realm, where Korra must face dark forces that threaten to plunge the physical world into eternal darkness. As he battles his kin, the season delves into the history of ghosts and their coexistence with humanity.
In Season 3: The Changes, the era of new Airbenders creates the Red Lotus, a group of anarchists bent on changing the world. This season pushes our characters to their limits, exploring the complexities of change and the cost of balance.
Finally, Season 4: Balance sees a time jump as Korra deals with the aftermath of her fight with the Red Lotus. With the rise of a new dictator, Korra's journey ends in a test of her maturity and the question of whether she can restore balance to the world. Legend of Korra masterfully explores a world steeped in rich culture and history. In doing so, she offers insightful stories about the human experience that ultimately leave viewers in the dark.
