Overview

The Radiance, also known as the Light, is a deity with supernatural strength and intelligence that casts a long, dark shadow over the Hollow Knight universe. She once ruled Hallownest, commanding love, worship and fear from its inhabitants. The Shining rules both dreams and reality, and its essence permeates the mindscapes of all beings. The legendary plague that causes insanity and distortion is simply the result of massive Radiant illumination. This divine entity is characterized by a rich golden radiance, symbolizing her radiant sovereignty and the blinding plague she unleashes. Despite her seemingly evil deeds, Radiance simply embodies an instinctive and fervent desire for worship, power, and preservation fueled by the collective memory of Hallownest's insects. His ethereal physique and immense skills make him a formidable opponent for the rider. Despite the initial collapse caused by the Pale King's grand deception, the Radiance faces destruction and oblivion; always fighting, forever enduring, forever shining, even in the midst of the darkest abyss. No story of Hallownest can be told without honoring Splendor, the primordial light that birthed the realm's golden age and plunged it into utter madness and decay.

History

Radiance, often referred to as the Ancient Light, is the central being in the fascinating Hollow Knight universe. Its origins date back to prehistoric times, before the reign of the Pale King. This divine being of light and dreams once ruled the Bones Nest, in harmony with its inhabitants who worshiped and adored her wonderful light.
Despite initial universal acclaim, the luster was eventually forgotten when a pale king came to power. It was cast aside, consigned to the annals of darkness. During his exile, the Beam continued to exist in the dreams of those who once worshiped him: their memories were the only remnants of his existence. The Transcendent Moths were one of the few creatures to retain their memories of the Beam, ultimately making it more of a myth than a reality.
Still, the brilliance could not be forgotten, and it did not go away quietly. In a valiant attempt to reclaim his power and exact revenge on those who overthrew him, he began to infiltrate the insects' dreams, manifesting as a contagious orange nightmare. It seeped into their minds and minds, exerting control, warping their senses and turning their bodies into a monstrous shell. A silent struggle has been going on for ages as Radiance sought to regain its past glory and sovereignty. When the moth tribe accidentally awakens their memory, a devastating plague breaks out, affecting almost all of Hallownest. Light, once considered sacred, has now become a symbol of fear and decay.
The story of The Radiance is a chilling reminder of the old adage "fear what you can't see or understand." His persistence and unrelenting anger symbolize his desperate struggle to regain his lost power and meaning. The story is a tale of bitter revenge, unrelenting rage and a fearless desire to rise from the ashes of oblivion. So it reminds us that in the world of Hollow Knight, even gods can fall and rise again.
