Production

Creating Sonic the Hedgehog has been a painstaking journey to present the iconic video game character in a new but faithful way. The process began with intense brainstorming and extensive storyboarding to ensure that the character of Sonic was preserved in this new cinematic representation.
The designers faced a major challenge in transferring Sonic from 2D to 3D, in order to preserve the appeal of the original character and make him realistic in reality. To ensure that his shade of blue lived up to audience expectations, Sonic depicted constant evolution and iterations based on audience feedback.
The film wisely took the opportunity to use Jim Carrey's impeccable comic timing as Dr. Robotnico. His performance was much appreciated and gave the film a refreshingly evil edge. Voice acting, even for background characters, was also held to a high standard to ensure inclusion and authenticity.
Filming took place in several locations across Canada under the direction of expert Jeff Fowler, who led a hardworking team to capture the most dynamic and exciting footage. An animation team from Japan and America worked together to bring Sonic's fast-paced action to life, creating a perfect balance between photorealism and exaggerated motion.
Also, the production team worked tirelessly to maintain a balance of comedy, action and story throughout the film to make it enjoyable for both kids and adults. The perfect combination of all these elements ultimately resulted in a very successful and entertaining Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
