The film opens with a beautiful day at the Krusty Krab, interrupted only by Plankton's theft of the recipe. His attempt leads him into a series of fun and action-packed battles with SpongeBob SquarePants, leading to an unexpected turn of events: the secret Krabby Patty recipe mysteriously disappears. The Krusty Krab's statute of limitations has expired, and the town of Bikini Bottom has descended into post-apocalyptic chaos.

Squidward becomes Sour Note, Mr. Krabs becomes Mr. Super Awesome, Patrick becomes Mr. Invincible, Sandy becomes a rodent, and SpongeBob becomes the Invincibubble. With their new superhero powers, our characters face off against a pirate to retrieve the recipe.
