History
The area is nicknamed "The Road" because of its uncanny resemblance to a giant petrified road. According to legend, the skeletal structure is the remains of an ancient giant beast that once roamed the Boiling Isles. The beast's death occurred in a titanic battle with Zardi the Unconquered. An influential and heroic figure in local lore, Zardi's famous victory is commemorated annually with a lively celebration called Zardi Day.
Beyond the legend, the story of the road has a rich history interwoven with tales of survival and strength. Known as Kneezers, the residents of this area are loyal and resilient individuals, respected for their determination and tenacity. Over the centuries, Kneezers have managed to make a life for themselves in this harsh environment and develop a close-knit and supportive community. The local culture of The Knee reflects this spirit of resilience, with many traditions passed down from generation to generation celebrating their collective strength.
The story of the road is not without conflicts. Turf wars often arise between local witch clans who fight for dominance over the precious resource. Nevertheless, road people are very loyal to their home. Many stories tell of brave Kneezers who stood up to defend their country, often against insurmountable odds. True to their name, The Knee stands firm among the Boiling Isles as a pillar of strength. Its history is a testament to the resilience and courage of its inhabitants, firmly establishing it as an important part of the House of Owls universe.
Background
As the main setting of the series, The Knee is home to many different magical creatures, each with unique quirks and abilities. Witches, demons and other mystical creatures make their lives in this magical environment, learning and practicing their spells, providing an enchanting blend of the mundane and the mystical.
