The Warhammer 40,000 universe is a dark and menacing realm filled with endless conflict. The Expanded Empire of Man, the leading human civilization in space, takes place in a dystopian future and spans the Milky Way galaxy. But he is beset by a myriad of threats from all sides: the xenon (alien) race, rebels from within, and monstrous demonic beings from an alternate dimension known as warps.
This universe is also steeped in rich mythology. In the distant past, human civilization reached its peak era known as the Dark Age of Technology. But an insidious event known as the Age of Strife plunged humanity into millennia of anarchy and technobarbarism. It was only after the intervention of the God-Emperor of Mankind that humanity was reunited, only to be torn apart again by the cataclysmic Horus Heresy.
Warhammer 40k's appeal lies in the sheer darkness and brutal aesthetic expressed by its many factions, from the militaristic Roman-inspired Ultramarines to the terrifying and unfathomable figures of the Necron tomb worlds. Each faction is richly featured and crafted, with detailed miniatures and tons of related lore.
