History of Chili's Grill & Bar

The journey to Chili's Grill & Bar began in 1975. in the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas. A visionary man named Larry Lavine wanted to create a full service casual restaurant with a unique taste and experience. With an undying passion for food and his vision to create a place for people to stay, enjoy, eat and drink, he opened the first Chili's Grill & Bar on Greenville Avenue.

Intrigued by the annual chili cook-off held in Terlingua, Texas, Lavine decided to open a restaurant serving gourmet burgers and chili. His idea quickly caught on, and Chili's became a favorite dining destination for many individuals and families.

Chili's grew significantly in the 1980s and 1990s. It quickly flourished domestically and eventually expanded internationally. Today, it has more than 1,600 offices worldwide, in the heart of some 29 countries:
