The Ground Zeroes incident marked a pivotal moment in the Metal Gear universe, bringing the end of Militaires Sans Frontières and paving the way for the rise of the Diamond Dogs. in 1975 March 16 Big Boss, also known as Snake, went on a secret mission to a black American site in Cuba, Camp Omega. Apparently, while rescuing two prisoners, Paz Ortega Andrade and Chico, he was tricked into facilitating an encryption plan to destroy Doctors Without Borders. This devious plan resulted in the loss of MSF's parents and the coma of Big Boss. The aftermath of this incident lingered in the survivors who inherited the will of the Big Boss in a new era of ongoing global conflict.
