At the beginning of Tatooine's history, it was a lush world filled with water, but a devastating war turned it into the barren wasteland it is today. The hardy Jawa, tiny rodent-like scavengers, have cleverly adapted to the unforgiving environment, building homes out of sand tracks and trading scavenged technology to scattered settlements. The fearsome Tusken Raiders try to survive through a mixture of aggression and tenacity, often facing settlers and travelers who dare to invade their territory.
But the world is not entirely without civil life. Human settlements, most notably Mos Eisley, are centers of activity in dry wastelands. Mos Eisley is an iconic port city with a bustling Starport that attracts merchants from across the galaxy. The city, like Tatooine itself, is a melting pot of different cultures and often serves as a refuge for people who want to stay out of sight.
