History

TYPE-MOON is a well-respected Japanese game company best known for their visual novels. It was founded in 2000. and was originally a dojin club that developed software for consumption by the fan community. The company is best known for its Nasuverse, a shared universe for many of its games, named after founder and lead writer Kinoko Nasu.

TYPE-MOON's world revolves around urban fantasy. This universe includes magical societies, superhero wars, and even the Holy Grail War, a bloody tournament rooted in history and magic. Major franchises such as Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, and Kara No Kyoukai are staples of this realm.

These games also often combine horror, philosophy, and tragedy, often with character-driven stories and complex themes. Despite its dark themes, TYPE-MOON also has lighthearted comedy and slice-of-life moments. Their works have become hugely popular and have been adapted into anime, manga and light novels, giving them a firm footing in the world of Japanese pop culture.
