Production

Sure, here it is.
Making Assassin's Creed was a huge undertaking that required both a dedicated team and a huge budget. Production on the film began in 2011, when Ubisoft announced plans to make a film adaptation of the popular video game series.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures is partnering with New Regency and 20th Century Fox to handle production and distribution. It was an important event, as it was the first film project of the Ubisoft production company. Michael Fassbender was cast in the title role, combining his raw talent and dedication to bring Callum Lynch's character to life.
A large part of the production was dedicated to creating authentic action sequences. The stunts and fight scenes are created by many of the same minds that worked on blockbuster action films like The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall. Parkour, a staple of the game series, was heavily incorporated into the film's action sequences to capture the games' unique movement style.
The film was mainly shot in Malta and Spain, specifically chosen for their historical architecture. The production team worked diligently to recreate the setting of the Spanish Inquisition, even going to the extreme of filming scenes in Mdina, Malta's walled medieval city. The development of Assassin's Creed was a massive $200 million project that not only adapted its video game counterpart, but also functioned as a standalone cinematic experience while maintaining the essence of the original series.
