Borderlands is a very popular open world action RPG developed by Gearbox Software. It takes place in a futuristic universe on a harsh and unexplored planet called Pandora. Although Pandora looks desolate, it is anything but. It is home to a host of hostile alien wildlife, military organizations and criminal syndicates who seem to be at odds in a desperate struggle for power and resources.
The Borderlands series is best known for its cel-shaded graphics, tongue-in-cheek humor, and most importantly, multiplayer-focused loot-based gameplay. Players assume the role of Vault Hunters, mercenaries hired by major corporations to hunt down legendary vaults believed to contain unimaginable alien technology.
Detailed character customization is one of the hallmarks of the series, as each character or Vault Hunter offers a unique play style complemented by their own abilities and skills. Players can play alone or team up with up to three other Vault Hunters to take down enemy criminals and grotesque creatures while collecting a variety of unique, strange and often comically powerful weapons.
