Borderlands is a critically acclaimed first-person shooter video game series that combines elements of action, role-playing, and adventure. Developed by Gearbox Software, Borderlands is best known for its unique cel-shaded graphics, humor, and focused multiplayer gameplay.

The games take place on the hostile planet Pandora, where players encounter various aliens, robots, bandits and other creatures while completing missions and hunting for loot. The Frontier World is a wild and untamed world in a galaxy far, far away, full of danger, adventure and great treasure. This universe is largely lawless and full of violence, with various factions vying for control of valuable resources. Borderlands is known for its vivid pulp shadow artwork, irreverent humor, and memorable and eccentric characters.

The series centers on Vault Hunters, mercenaries who seek out legendary vaults that are said to hold unimaginable riches. However, there are many scabs (fierce local wildlife), crazy criminals and powerful corporations standing in their way. Among them is the Hyperion Corporation, which is headed by the evil but cheerful Handsome Jack.
