Faction NameGuardian
The Guardian faction in the Borderlands universe is a group of enigmatic and ancient creatures created by the Eridians. They were appointed guardians of vaults scattered throughout the universe to prevent mysterious artifacts from falling into the wrong hands. A testament to the technological prowess of the Eridians, the Guardians possess superior strength and agility, using a variety of devastating energy weapons to defend their sacred cargo. Although robotic in appearance, they are believed to possess an alien spirit, a disembodied being that has granted eternal life to protect the unimaginable power of the Vaults. They look like enemies, and their intentions are not inherently evil, but directed at preserving the fragile cosmic balance.

Overview

The Guardian Faction is a mysterious and ancient group in the Borderlands universe, known for their advanced technical abilities and mysterious qualities. These beings have transcended the physical world and become ethereal digital beings that inhabit humanoid structures.
The Guardians are the custodians of Eridian technology and cosmic artifacts. Therefore, they are often found on alien worlds and in ancient vaults, protecting these precious artifacts from would-be robbers. Their intimate connection with Eridian technology allows them to channel raw energy as a weapon or shield, making them formidable opponents capable of turning the tide of any battle. Also, their unique ability to appear and disappear adds another layer of complexity to their character. This allows them to avoid deadly attacks, strategically move across the battlefield, or attack unexpected enemies.
Despite their inherently hostile nature to Vault Hunters, Guardians aren't bad per se. They maintain a kind of protective neutrality: their primary purpose is to protect, not destroy, the relics of Eris. Their actions are driven by a sense of duty imposed upon them by the disappearance of their creators, the Eridians. Meeting a foster carer can be a terrifying or frightening experience. Their mysterious origins, unique abilities, and relentless mission to protect the remains of their creators make them an attractive addition to the diverse group of factions in the Frontier Universe.

History

The Guardians faction in the Borderlands universe is a group of enigmatic and ancient beings created by an ancient alien civilization known as the Eridians to protect and maintain their knowledge, technology, and most importantly, vaults filled with dangerous biological experiments.
Centuries later, the last Eridian had to fight a cataclysm. In these desperate times, the Eridians have decided to sacrifice their entire civilization to trap the Destroyer, a terrifying creature that poses an existential threat, in one of their vaults. The Guardians were tasked with protecting this vault, along with many others scattered across planets, from would-be vault hunters.
As the Eridian civilization faded into the annals of universal history, the Guardians triumphed, unleashing a merciless enmity on any intruder who violated their sworn duties. Their mysterious appearance can cause fear, mainly shown in the hologram-like face and glowing weaponry that serves both defensive and offensive functions at the same time.
Their skills include both mastering technology and harnessing a form of energy that is vaguely understood by any current civilization. The Guardians block any Vault Hunters from advancing, charging into sight and stopping them in their tracks.
In a frenzy, as so often happens in history, Guardians and Vault Hunters found themselves under the banner of a common cause, fighting to prevent the awakening of the Destroyer, the same cosmic leviathan that once imprisoned the entire Eridian race. A hard-fought understanding has been reached, giving Guardians more nuance in the frontier universe. The Guardians, originally the vault's ancient guardians and an enigma unto themselves, become allies in certain situations, and their complex history shows their steely resolve, their unwavering duty to bring understanding to those who once saw only intruders. Their survival weaves a thread into the vibrant fabric of Borderlands' history. Their story is an immortal testament to a long-gone civilization's last attempt to secure a future on a cosmic scale.

Geography

The geography of the Guardian base is a testament to their amazing craftsmanship and alien origins. Far beyond the harsh confines of Pandora, their territories are shrouded in mystique that spans many distant planets located in the farthest reaches of the universe.
The homeworld of the Guardians, known as Necrotafeyo, is shrouded in an eerie calm. In orbit around a blazing neutron star, the planet is bathed in a purple ethereal glow. The surface is pockmarked with alien structures, and the landscape is dominated by massive angular formations and crystal shards embedded deep into the earth that hint at guardian architecture. Their other outposts, bare, lonely, float in space, untouched by human traces. Each environment is decorated with intricate designs, glittering glyphs and power-ups tailored to the advanced technology of the Guardians.
Striking fear and wonder in the hearts of Vault Hunters, the geography of the Guardians' realm symbolizes their separation from the rest of the universe, reveals their alien civilization, and adds to the mystery of their presence in the vast Borderlands universe.

Legacy and Impact

The Guardian faction of the Frontier Universe has left an important legacy as ancient cosmic beings whose knowledge and power far surpasses the understanding of the typical Pandoran resident. They are widely respected and justifiably feared for their advanced technology and incredible strength in battle, highlighting the mystery of their origins. Their impact on Pandora and other planets is huge and is often the driving force behind the story. Their technological artifacts are coveted by many and grant immense power to those who wield them. Although often a thorn in the side of the Vault Hunters, their involvement has definitely shaped the course of Pandora's history. Their existence provides both lore and driving force in the compelling plot of the Borderlands universe.
