Elpis is the great moon of Pandora in the Borderlands universe, bound in orbit by a massive H-well. A sight of spectacular scenery, its surface is dotted with cavernous fissures and space fissures that exude a ghostly blue hue. Once a bustling mining colony, the abandoned Elpis of Dali has left a lucrative frontier for Vault Hunters, lured by tales of hidden alien technology and rare resources. But they are not alone. A moon infested with ravenous Kragons and other native wildlife is a place of danger and opportunity. Elpis' low gravity changes the rules of combat and offers a completely unique battlefield. From unstable volcanic craters to abandoned cities frozen in time, Elpis exudes a sense of dangerous beauty and thrilling adventure unique to the Borderlands universe.

Overview

Known as Pandora's moon, Elpis exists in a completely different environment than its neighboring planet. This celestial body is the backdrop for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, featuring exotic landscapes and unusual fauna.
Elpis offers an intriguing exploration experience for any Borderlands player based on their space. Gravity behaves differently here: it is less intense than on Pandora. These new mechanics introduce a new dimension to gameplay, including exciting low-gravity battles and lunar expeditions. Much of the Elpis terrain is barren and desolate, with craters and ravines marking the surface. But it is not completely devoid of civilization. The moon is home to Concordia, a bustling space city and shopping center. In addition, numerous settlements and structures are scattered around Elpi, testifying to the unique culture and lifestyle of the inhabitants.
Beneath the solid surface of the Elpis moon lies an unfathomable network of caves and tunnels. It houses strange alien organisms and precious loot that tempt the most daring vault hunters. Despite its unsightly appearance, Elpis is filled with remnants of alien artifacts and technology that make for exciting missions.
Essentially exploring Elpis, players can experience the immersive experience of the Borderlands universe. Unique landscapes, unique gravity mechanics, exotic creatures, and ancient alien technology make Elpi far more than just a "Pandora's moon." It's a world full of secrets waiting to be discovered by the bravest of adventurers.

History

Elpis is the moon of Pandora, the main setting of the Borderlands series. The setting of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is as rich and explosive a story as the gunfights it often sees.
The story of Elpis begins with the discovery of Pandora by the Atlas Corporation. Naturally, Elpis, being the closest celestial body to Pandora, was another object of interest. However, due to its harsh and seemingly arid environment, it has been largely ignored, and Pandora's mineral potential. Everything changed when Dahl's company, having escaped from Pandora, released the monstrous beasts that would become the planet's fauna, and left the moon base on Elpi. The base quickly became a haven for criminals, fugitives, and all kinds of social outcasts from across the galaxy.
It wasn't until the arrival of Jack, the future dictator Handsome Jack, that Elpi began to light up. Under Jack's leadership, Elpy's outlaws and outcasts banded together and began exploiting the moon's minerals, which Atlas once considered worthless. His dream of creating a utopia away from the chaos of Pandora seemed within reach until a devastating betrayal changed the course of Elpis' history forever. Despite its troubled past, Elpis remains an iconic part of the Borderlands universe. The rugged landscapes, vast moon base, and colorful characters that call it home all play a role in shaping the moon's unique identity. Through trials, betrayals and many bullet holes, Elpis is a testament to the resilience and wild unpredictability of the frontier frontier.

Background

Elpis is a natural companion to Pandora and was a relatively peaceful home for settlers before the "Pandora Crisis". The population largely survived the mining operations and took advantage of the abundant Eridium deposits stored on the Moon. They lived in harmonious settlements scattered across the surface, beneath unique crystalline formations that sparkled in the sunlight.
But the peace in Elpy was shattered when the Dahl Corporation arrived. They began exploiting Elpis' resources, using convict labor for most of their mining operations. It was during these operations that the first vaults were discovered, awakening the ancient alien guardians. This discovery quickly sparked an arms race that led to chaotic clashes between the various Vault Hunters, corporate armies, and the unpredictable wildlife.
The company's war and the release of the guards had a detrimental effect on Elpis. Entire settlements were abandoned or destroyed, and the lunar environment took a severe hit. Frequent earthquakes destroyed the unique crystalline formations, and the once harmonious settlements were now remnants of a bygone era. But the resilience of the Elpian settlers remained and many survived amid the chaos and destruction.
Despite its decline, Elpis has its own unique charm. The surface is decorated with beautiful, if fractured, crystalline formations, and the remnants of once-thriving mining settlements add to the Moon's rugged charm. For intrepid adventurers, the moon offers something like no other, promising the allure of ancient alien crypts filled with untold treasures and technology.
Although the citizens of Elpius have it tough, they are resilient. They adapt quickly and salvage whatever they can from the ruins of their homes. They have become experts on the local fauna and flora and use whatever they find to survive. Their ghost bears witness to the harsh life in Elpy and their never-ending quest to reclaim their home. The story of Elpis is one of resilience and survival, a beacon of hope in the chaos of the frontier.
