The Tarnished are a group of exiles, outcasts from the legendary land of the Elden Ring universe known as The Lands Between. They are seen and recognized by the Ring of Elden itself, a will greater than the cosmos, and called home to reclaim the fragmented Golden Order. The Clouds were neither born nor bred, but formed when the sacred light of the Ring of Elden was torn away, causing the people to lose the golden grace that had once shone and become dull. Deprived of this divine guidance, they are exiled from their homeland, hence the name 'Appanati'.
Summoned, they leave exile to travel the world on their trusty steeds, engaging in deep battles and unleashing magical abilities to explore the dark, atmospheric world of the Elden Ring universe. Their eyes burn with determination, driven by one goal: to become the Old Lord and see the Golden Order restored.
