Outer Sky Uprising took place in the late 1990s and marked a monumental period in the Metal Gear timeline. Outer Heaven, an autonomous military nation-state in South Africa, was ruled by the infamous Big Boss. Considered a utopia by mercenaries, he aspired to a world where soldiers were not controlled by government interests. Uprising was a covert operation led by FOXHOUND to stop the Metal Gear TX-55 armed fortress. Little did they know that Big Boss himself was also the commander of FOXHOUND. The event culminated in a violent confrontation between the debuting Solid Snake and Big Boss, resulting in the destruction of Outer Heaven. This momentous rebellion defined the antagonistic dynamic between Big Boss and Solid Snake that would lead to further conflict in the future. The Rebellion of Outer Heaven is a symbolic event that shows the brutal reality of war and deception.
