The Goddess Clan is one of the five main races in the Nanatsu no Taizai universe. Known for their divine powers and ethereal beauty, they are closely associated with the sky and the supernatural. They have a wide range of mystical powers and can perform miracles, manipulate the elements and even raise the dead. They differ greatly from other races in their high resistance to dark curses and their unique ability to purify souls. Although once one of the dominant powers in the world, the Goddess Clan suffered a great downfall during the Holy War and lost their physical forms. Despite their physical absence, they continue to influence events through their ethereal forms, revealing the extent of their divine powers. Highly respected and feared, the goddess clan embodies the benevolent and malevolent aspects of divinity.

Overview

The main faction of the Nanatsu no Taizai universe, the Goddess Clan is a collection of divine beings that are the exact opposite of the Demon Clan. Highly respected among the other races, they are widely recognized for their extremely powerful magical abilities, especially the Arc magic that they use for both offensive and healing purposes.
A goddess clan consists of members with hierarchical ranks. The highest rank, the Supreme Deity, has great authority and is the matriarch of the clan. She is followed by four archangels who are the most powerful clan members after her and have an unprecedented ability called "Grace".

Uniquely, members of the Goddess Clan reside in the celestial realms and also have the ability to possess other beings that roam the earth plane, manifesting their ethereal nature. The physical characteristics of this clan include their different shapes and sizes. However, the most prominent feature that is often recognized is the symbol of their pair of wings.
The Goddess Clan is known for their unyielding sense of justice, often driving them to the extreme form of justice and destruction of anything that threatens peace. Despite their noble intentions, this sometimes has dire consequences, causing riots rather than preventing them.
Their long-standing feud with the Demon Clan is central to the plot of Nanatsu no Taizai. The Goddess Clan embodies the paradox of divine beings where their actions straddle the line between benevolence and destruction.

History

An integral part of the Nanatsu no Taizai universe, the Goddess Clan has many impressive chapters in its history spanning three thousand years. This mysterious group has always been known for their godlike powers, immense strength, and unique abilities such as the power to manipulate and control light. In addition, the goddess clan was blessed with wings like angels to complement their ethereal radiance.
The Goddess Clan, the Goddesses of the Sky, became embroiled in a deadly plan when they started a war known as the Holy War against the Demon Clan. It was a major part of their history and marks the most brutal and destructive war the Empire has ever seen. Their sincere intention was to destroy the Demon Clan, seeing them as a threat to the natural harmony of the world. The Goddess Clan, along with giants, fairies, and humans, formed the Stigma Alliance to challenge the formidable Demon Clan.
The Goddess Clan, embodying the element of light, uses their power called the Ark. It is an extremely powerful light-based magic that seems to have cleansing properties and counteracts the Demon Clan's dark abilities. However, the Goddess Clan also had its share of detractors, such as the Ten Commandments, who had similar intentions of eliminating the Goddess Clan as the Demon Clan. But a terrible turn of events was the betrayal of the four Archangels of the Goddess Clan. They sacrificed their kind and sealed away the Demon Clan forever, but at the cost of the Goddess Clan's physical bodies. Enveloped in light, they ascended to the spiritual realm, leaving symbols of their existence scattered throughout the human world.
Despite their downfall, the legacy of the Goddess Clan continued to reverberate throughout the world of Nanatsu no Taizai, influencing major events in the series. Their history and deeds that created the universe they were a part of have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the annals of time.
