Overview

With their distinctive traditional weaponry, they repel creeping threats from within and beyond their territories with true and unwavering fervor. Due to their seemingly insurmountable geographical location, the Marakets live in disciplined isolation, undisturbed by the many problems that plague the rest of Vraeclast. It is unique that the cataclysm almost did not affect them. But this isolation should not be confused with indifference. Willing to fight when their way of life is threatened, Marakets are spiritually attuned to their land and are fierce defenders of it. Their legendary resilience gives hope to the Wraeclast and is a testament to humanity's potential to survive in even the most hostile environment.
History
Hundreds of years ago, the Maraket were Wraeclast outcasts, exiles from the Eternal Kingdom who rejected its wealth and corruption. They fled to the barren mountains of Highgate, carved life in stone, and made the hostile lands their refuge. Taming the mountain became their forte; their legends rebelled against the heights they once feared. Despite the harsh conditions, the Marakeths thrived, a testament to their unwavering resilience. Warriors perfected their swords to protect their people. They have developed an adaptive culture, a unique reflection of the harsh highs and lows of their homeland. Their traditions contain echoes of all Marakets: warriors, leaders, storytellers.
After the fall of the Eternal Empire, the weapons master Deshret played a leading role. It ended the nightmare that was winding under Highgate and earned a place in Marrakesh history. The story of Red Sekhem is an example of human immortality, a symbol of courage, strength and self-sacrifice.
After Deshret's triumph, the Marakets embraced their loneliness. They became fiercely independent, strengthened their solidarity against outside influences, and created a mountain-hardened clan united by threads of survival.
Today, Marakets are very much like their peaks: unyielding, mysterious, majestic. The Marakethai draw strength from their unforgiving environment. Being exiled to these lands would be a death sentence, as you not only have to contend with the dry climate and scorching sun, but you also have to contend with the Maraket, known for their deadly fighting skills. Over the centuries, the Maraket have adapted to a constant cycle of drought and flood, and their way of life reflects the harsh dichotomies of the landscape. Their structures are sturdy and short-lived, built to withstand harsh desert winds, but easy to dismantle when it's time to move. The landscape itself is dotted with their semi-permanent campsites, each a testament to their nomadic culture and design.
Beneath the arid plains of Vastiri lie the deep mines of Highgate, explored and mined by Maraket. These vast underground systems of tunnels and caverns are filled with untold natural resources that Maraketh expertly mines to trade with neighboring regions and factions. This unique geographic feature provides the Maraket with a vital economic lifeline, giving them a unique position of power in the hostile Wraeclast environment.
