Our Jedi heroes land on the Federation flagship, but are ambushed, causing them to flee to the surface of Naboo. Here they meet the terrifying Gungan outcast Jar Jar Binks. They gain his trust and manage to fight their way to Ted, the besieged capital. They rescue Queen Amidala, the virtuous young ruler of Naboo, and escape the planet despite their spaceship being badly damaged by the blockade.
Trapped on Tatooine, a desolate world ruled by ruthless Hutt gangsters, Qui-Gon meets a young slave with extraordinary abilities, Anakin Skywalker. Between the dangerous podras and the emerging Sith threat, the Jedi Master senses that the Force is strong with Anakin and that he may be the prophesied Chosen One to balance the Force.
In the background, shadowy figures of the Republic, including the ambitious Senator Palpatine, create further intrigue.
