Outland logo
Location NameOutland
Outland, the shattered remains of the beautiful planet Draenor, is an awe-inspiring sight full of treacherous landscapes and alien flora and fauna. Once home to a mighty horde of orcs and a haven for hardy draenei, it has now been destroyed by the demonic influence of the Burning Legion. Outland is a world of floating islands in the Twisting Nether, whose skies are lit by the cosmic energy of stars and nebulae. The region consists of several zones, including the harsh desert of Nagrand, the bustling city of Shatrath, and the stormy skies of Netherstorm. However, its beauty is marred by constant conflict between native species, demonic legions, and Alliance and Horde expeditionary forces from Azeroth. Visitors are advised to pay attention; each step could mean confronting old enemies or uncovering primordial secrets.

Overview

Once known as Draenor, Outland is a shattered world that roams the astronomical abyss of the Netherland. It is home to countless species, including ethereal beings, demons, and various types of elemental creatures. The outside is beyond the physical universe, and the sky is ablaze with celestial activity. This area consists of seven zones, each with its own unique culture, landscape and challenges.
The Hellfire Peninsula, the explorers' first encounter in Outland, is a barren wasteland surrounded by demonic activity. Bordering Zangarmarsh to the north, visitors are greeted by dense mushroom forests inhabited by ancient sporelings and threatened by encroaching claws.
Terokkar Forest welcomes adventurers with lush forests to the east, centered around the ruined city of Shatrath, a haven for both Horde and Alliance. To the west lies the harsh, mana-drenched landscape of the Netherstorm, home to a mysterious ethereal race led by the mysterious Nexus Prince Haramad.
To the south rise the majestic peaks of the Blade's Edge Mountains, home to the elusive and fiercely independent flying race of arakkoa. Nagrand is a bastion of peace surrounded on the edge of chaos with spectacular plains and floating islands ruled by the pristine orcs known as Mag'har. However, the darkest area remains the dark valley of Shadowmoon. This eerie region hides the headquarters of the Illidari forces: the Black Temple, once a sacred place of worship for the Draene Naaru. The scars of magical warfare and endless battle with demonic forces depict Outland's dramatic past and challenging future. Archaeologists, historians, adventurers, and battle thrill seekers alike are drawn here for their own reasons, each weaving their own history into Outland's rich tapestry.

History

A shattered world in the Twisting Nether, The Outland has a fascinating and turbulent history. Originally, it was an entire planet called Draenor, inhabited by various ancient and mystical races. The most powerful among them were the powerful orcs and the trained Draenei. The two races lived in relative peace, the orcs co-existed with the elements of the earth while the draenei focused on their secret quests.
However, the peace of Draenor was shattered by the arrival of the demonic Burning Legion. They tricked the orcs into bloodthirsty warmongers. The draenei became the butt of the orc's wrath, and Draenor was drenched in blood. This manipulation led to the creation of the Horde, which led to the tragic events of the first war.
Vast arcane energies unleashed during the war tore the planet apart, resulting in the current fractured state known as Outland. In order to exploit the power vacuum, Kil'jaeden sent his agent Illidan Stormrage to establish his rule over Outland. But Illidan's reign was not without controversy. Outland has become a canvas of conflict both internally, between the remaining orc clans, and externally, with the forces of Azeroth seeking to neutralize the demonic threat.
Today, Outland bears witness to the Burning Legion's manipulative powers, with a stark reminder of their ability to warp minds and lands. Although devastated, he is far from dead. Its rich history only adds to the diverse demographics and dynamics that make it a vital part of the World of Warcraft story. Every battlefield, every ruin is a visual narrative of the world that was and the world that is, with tales of brave heroism and devastating death etched into its relief.

Background

Formerly known as Draenor, The Outland was once a vibrant world teeming with the energies of the primordial universe. It was the ancestral home of the orc clans and other native species such as the draenei, especially before the initial invasion of the Burning Legion.
Before the demonic invasion, Draenor was a wonderland of rolling mountains and vibrant, vibrant flora. It was filled with unique strains and great mysterious energy. Orcs lived in peace and harmony, reverencing this mighty land and drawing strength from the spirits that dwelled within it. But everything changed when the Burning Legion found Draenor.
Lured by promises of power, the orc wizard Guldan wreaked havoc on Draenor. He performed a disastrous ritual to open a portal to Azeroth that destroyed the world. This once beautiful world was destroyed, and the skeletal remains of the planet were thrown into the Twisting Nether, a chaotic, magical energy between worlds.
Today, the shattered world is held together by the magic that once flourished there, now by a chaotic and unpredictable force. It is a poisonous wasteland filled with wandering demons, wild magic, and bloodthirsty factions engaged in brutal conflict. The energies that once existed are now distorted, creating unusual effects and mutations in creatures and the landscape.
Despite the harsh conditions, Outland is home to many races and factions that have adapted to survive. The surviving draenei founded the city of Shatrath, the largest surviving city in Outland. The destroyed world is also colonized by the Burning Legion, and various groups seek to harness its chaotic energies for their own purposes. Outland remains a testament to unchecked ambition and the consequences of power. But amidst the ruins and chaos, life goes on, struggling to survive in a harsh and strange land. It is a land of decay and conflict, but also of hope, resilience and adaptation.
